Nottingham Hospitals Choir
What They Say About Themselves
We are a friendly group of about forty singers, who rehearse each week during school terms at Queen's Medical Centre. We are led by Nick Milburn our Musical Director, our accompanist is Gill Shaw. Many of the choir have worked in the NHS in various capacities, but this is not a requirement of membership.
We perform music in many styles and give four concerts each year. The programme for the Easter Concert is mostly classical music, by contrast in the summer and early autumn we perform arrangements of popular music, including numbers from films and musicals. The Christmas Concert consists of carols and other seasonal music. The choir sings at other church services and hospital events; such as the NHS Mass at St Barnabas Cathedral, BBC Radio Nottingham Carol Service and the City of Nottingham Festival of Remembrance.
Over the last 50 years we have raised over £200 000 for charity. In recent years we have been collecting for the Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s i-MRI appeal. The Choir had its Golden Jubilee in 2020, but sadly we were not able to hold any of our scheduled events. We are looking forward to having something to celebrate soon.
