Radcliffe Ladies Choir
What They Say About Themselves
Formed 30 years ago in September 1991 with just 14 members, the Radcliffe Ladies’ Choir has grown over the years and membership is currently 50 ladies from around the county whose ages range from mid-20s to late-80s. Since the first public appearance at Cotgrave Parish Church in 1992, the choir has given concerts at many venues across the region for various charities and organisations plus two popular annual concerts in Radcliffe-on-Trent in July and December.
Paul Hayward became Musical Director in November 2022 and rehearsals take place every Wednesday between 7:30pm and 9:30pm.
Alex Patterson was Musical Director from May 2010 to June 2020. Over the years the choir has worked hard in extending their repertoire and developing their musicianship and performance skills with recent highlights including commissioning Canadian composer Sarah Quartel and performing major works from the choral repertory: Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs, Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, and Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols.
The Choir has undergone several concert tours in the past few years: Ely & Aldeburgh in 2015, Belfast & Holywood, N. Ireland, in 2016, Newcastle & Durham in 2017, Cheltenham in 2018 with performances in Worcester Cathedral and Tewkesbury Abbey, and most recently: York in 2019, with performances in Selby Abbey and Ripon Cathedral.
